Ryan Alexander Brock, 18, beloved son of Ken and Alecia Brock, Evansville, Indiana, completed his earthly journey on June 17, 2005, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Ryan was born July 15, 1986, in Cynthiana, KY. He attended Northern Elementary and Scott County Middle Schools in Georgetown, KY, completing his middle school years at Oak Hill Middle School in Evansville, IN, Ryan was a 2004 graduate of North High School, Evansville, IN, where his major focus had been automotive technology. His plans were to attend Wyo-Tech University in Blairsville, PA, this fall to study street rod fabrication and high performance engines. He has been a faithful servant of Christ and was an active member of First Southern Baptist Church in Evansville. He was involved in numerous activities at the church, including participating in the Journey, Judgment House, Upward Basketball, and two trips to Juarez, Mexico, with the Mexico Mission Team to help build homes for those less fortunate. Ryan was a quiet individual who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Ryan was fortunate enough to hold short-term employment with Larry Doss Construction and Adecco. He truly enjoyed these opportunities to feel active and involved. Ryan was a son, grandson, nephew, cousin and compassionate friend who shared an immense faith and a gentle smile with all who knew him.

Ryan was preceded in death by two wonderful grandparents, Cleo H. Claunch of Harrodsburg, KY, and Kenneth E. Brock of Butler, KY, as well as a terrific aunt who shared a common bond with him, Barbara Brock Warner of Southgate, KY.

Other than his parents, Ryan is survived by his joyful and loving older brother, Kevin Brock of Evansville, IN; two devoted grandmothers who cared for him during his illness, Joyce Claunch of Harrodsburg, KY, and Reba Brock of Butler, KY; one aunt who always endeavored to bring joy and simple pleasures into his life, Debbie Claunch of Harrodsburg, KY; one great-grandmother, Leo Hunt of Worthville, KY, who helped teach him the true meaning of faith; and a host of great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins, and friends who provided love, support, and encouragement along the way.

Ryan was especially blessed to have wonderful Christian friends who shared a love for Christ, who continuously lifted him up in prayer, and who constantly looked for ways to include him in their daily activities. He has also been blessed by some wonderful caregivers, Dr. Brian Carr and Dr. Wallis Marsh of UPMC, Pittsburgh, PA; Dr. Daniel Shirey and Nurse Practitioner, Kelly Dempsey, of Evansville, IN; and VNA Hospice Nurse. Heather Lenn.
