US Congessman. In 1899, he was a prosecuting attorney in Lake, Illinois and was assistant city attorney of Chicago in 1903. He was elected as a Republican to the Fifty-ninth Congress serving 1905 to 1907. Unsuccessful candidate for reelection he resumed the practice of law in Chicago and was a Government appeal agent in Chicago during World War I. In 1920, he was appointed assistant State's attorney serving until resigning in December 1923. He resumed the practice of law, was author of several books and operated a restaurant until his death.
