Suffering a stroke as she was descending the cellar stairs in her home yesterday afternoon, Mrs. Ella J., nee Handwerk, German, wife of Tilghman German, 626 N. 16th St., Allentown, fell and died a few minutes later. A neighbor reported that Mrs. German, who was 67 years old, entered the house at 4:30 o'clock, and when Mr. German returned from his place of employment, 20 minutes later, he discovered his wife's body at the foot of the stairs. She was born in Slatington, the daughter of the late Nathan and Maria, nee Harter, Handwerk, and resided in the Slatington district for many years. The past 19 years she had resided in Allentown. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran and Reformed church, Slatedale. Surviving are her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Charles Reppert, Hamburg; a sister, Mrs. Louisa Blose, Slatedale; and two brothers, Oscar Handwerk, Saegersville; and Howard Handwerk, Germansville R. 1. Funeral services at her late residence on Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock with further services in Holy Trinity Lutheran and Reformed church, Slatedale. Rev. E. S. Kidd will officiate. Interment in Union cemetery, Slatington.
