Norman proudly served his Country in the United States Army being drafted in March of 1945, serving in Germany during the occupation.
On June 12, 1948, Norman married Gloria Peterson at Bethel Mission Church in Wallace, Mich. Gloria preceded him in death on October 2, 2012.
He worked at Marinette Marine Corp for 38 years, retiring in 1988 as a foreman. Prior to his time at Marinette Marine, Norman worked in the woods for Gene Phillips. Norman was a charter member of the Horseshoe Hollow Hunting Camp where he loved the camaraderie and being in the woods. He loved animals, especially horses, playing guitar, singing in the choir and being the music director at his church. A very kind man, Norman was always smiling, was the ultimate story teller and had a special love for all children. He totally loved his daily stops to the Rise and Shine Bakery. Norman was a member of the Country Bible Church.
Survivors include his son, Mike (Elaine) Newlin of Hortonville, Wis.;
six daughters: Bev (Jeff) Zehr of Bonduel, WI; Dawn Machalk of DePere, WI; Melodie Heller of Brookfield, WI; Hollie (Joel) Phillippo of Stephenson, MI; Tammy (Greg) Scheve of St. Louis, Mo. and Heidi (Mark) Hurt of Iola, WI;
numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren;
three sisters: Doris Rye of Wallace, MI; Avis Jensen of Gladstone, MI and Betty (John) LaPointe of Manistique, MI;
five brothers: Gordon (Evelyn), Warren (Clara) and Jerry (Milly), all of Wallace, MI; Marvin (Shirley) of Chico, Calif. and Ronald (Ingrid) of Saukville, Wis.
Norman was preceded in death by his sister, Ethel "Sis" Bergquist; and son-in-law, John Heller.
Family and friends may call at Country Bible Church on Friday, October 23, 2015, after 11 a.m. until time of Military Rites at 2 p.m., followed by Funeral Service with Pastor David Buckley officiating. Burial will follow in Mellen Township Cemetery.
