Virgil Hudson Butler, Jr. was born on March 12, 1938 in Oklahoma City to Virgil Butler and Ruby Dunning Butler. He left this life on February 14, 2011. He grew up in Oklahoma City where he attended school and graduated in the first class of Northwest Classen High School in 1956. He was a 1960 graduate of the University of Oklahoma where he was a proud member of Sigma Nu Fraternity and served proudly in ROTC and the United States Army. Virgil went on to operate his own business manufacturing and marketing crushing and screening equipment. He was internationally recognized as an innovator in the aggregates industry and was one of the first to use a computer to calculate processing flows and designs. He had a knack for finding new ways to solve problems in the industry and many of them are still in use today. He excelled in making friends for life. He got so much pleasure from all of his long-term friendships and we will all continue to carry a piece of him in our hearts. Virgil was the father of Taylor Allen Butler, Stephen Hudson Butler, Marcus Ains-worth Butler, and the step- father of Phillip Wayne Glaz-ener and Matthew Dorsey Glazener, all of whom survive him. He was the husband of Linda Allen Butler who predeceased him and is survived by his wife Jan Hise Butler, and one sister Catherine Butler Pendley. Virgil was a 24 year survivor of a massive stroke and a member of the National Stroke Association. He loved to encourage new survivors to attend the OKC Association. Virgil loved life, his children, his friends, and St Paul's Episcopal Cathedral in Oklahoma City where his service will be on Saturday, February 19, 2011, at 11:00 AM.
