Sharp, Teresa Lynette

Teresa Lynette Sharp, 49, of Lansing, New York, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 22, 2015, after a long and heroic battle with cancer.

Beloved daughter of Richard and Sandra Sharp, Teresa was born on February 13th, 1966 in Ithaca, New York, and she is also survived by her daughter, Isabella Sharp; devoted companion, Scott Burke; brother and sister-in-law, Timothy and Melanie Sharp; niece, Ashlee Sharp; Godchildren, Nicole Vanbenschoten, Jenna Billups, Kyle and Zach Steiner, Sierra and Chelsea Boles; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.

Teresa grew up in Lansing and graduated from Lansing High School in 1984, and went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Economics at SUNY Cortland in 1988. Teresa lived a rich life full of adventure. She was incredibly close to her family. Working with her mom, Sandie, for over 27 years at the Larkin Insurance Agency, one was rarely seen without the other. Taking peaceful family boat rides on Cayuga Lake with her dad, Richie, at the wheel, was one of her favorite things to do. Teresa's true joy in life began the day she set eyes upon her beautiful baby girl, Isabella Sophia Sandra Sharp. Inseparable from the start, Teresa's love for "Isss" was immeasurable. Never letting her illness slow her down, Teresa was devoted and determined to go, see, and do everything with her precious daughter and that they did! Teresa also enjoyed travel, shopping, and antiquing, but what she cherished most was sharing quiet moments at the lake with family and friends. Teresa's strength and courage was nothing short of awe inspiring. She knew no strangers and could light up a room with her gorgeous smile, beautiful blue eyes, kind heart and welcoming spirit. Taken from us far too soon, her passing will leave a void in so many of our lives, but the wonderful memories we were blessed to share with her will live on in our hearts forever. Heaven has welcomed a very special angel...Teresa will be forever missed, but never forgotten.

Family will receive friends from 4-7 pm, Tuesday, October 27th, at Lansing Funeral Home, 32 Auburn Rd., Lansing, NY.

A funeral service will be held at 11am, Wednesday, October 28th at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 402 N. Aurora St., Ithaca, followed by a reception at LakeWatch Inn in Lansing.

Burial at Pine Grove Cemetery in Lansing will be private.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the Isabella Sharp Educational Fund, Tompkins Trust Co., c/o Ursula Russ, PO Box 460, Ithaca, NY 14850.
