Funeral services for Mr. Robert Lewis Gant, age 74, of Manchester, will be conducted on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Manchester Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Paul Elam officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be from 12 noon until time of service at the funeral home. Mr. Gant passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Life Care Center in Tullahoma.
Robert was born in Bedford County, TN, the son of the late Samuel and Margeret Cooper Gant. He served his country in the United States Air Force and was an electrician for AEDC. He was a self-taught musician on the harmonica and guitar, loved to read science and history books, loved to whistle, work on cars, baseball, boxing, music, and enjoyed taking things apart and putting them back together.
In addition to his parents, Robert was also preceded in death by one sister, Sarah Davis. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Peggy Thomas Gant of Manchester; two sons, Jerome (Cindy) Gant of Shelbyville and Phillip (Mayumi) Gant of Altus, OK; one daughter, Kathryn Gant of Nashville; one brother, Clyde Gant; and two sisters, Bettye Colvin of Gary, IN and Sharon Gant of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren, Megan Gant of Alaska, Phillip A. Gant of Cookeville, Lion and Kokoro Gant, both of Altus, OK, Jerrica Gant of Atlanta, Miracle Stewart of Shelbyville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
