passed away Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
The Aid native was born Dec. 2, 1926, a daughter of the late John Franklin and Florence Belle Halsey Dixon.
She was also preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Joseph Calvin Church Sr., whom she married May 23, 1947.
Dorothy was a model of traditional values, was a homemaker and devoted wife and mother.
She treasured her time caring for her family and also enjoyed cooking and baking for Sunday dinners and holiday gatherings.
Dorothy nourished people around her with her love and faith in the Lord.
Her spirit and love for her family and life will always bring a smile to our faces and live in our hearts forever. Dorothy was a member of Sharon Baptist Church in Ironton.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Mae McClung; three grandchildren, Ryan Lee McClung, Donald W. Dalton II and Angela Lynn Dalton Sweetay; and a great-granddaughter, Samantha Faye Ann Dalton.
She is survived by five daughters, a son, a son-in-law, 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Harvey officiating.
Burial will follow in Ogle Cemetery and visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Donations may be made in Dorothy’s honor to the Community Hospice Care Center, 2330 Pollard Road, Ashland, KY 41101.
