GALVA - Dorothy H. Hagerty, 86, of Galva, died at 1:10 a.m., Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 18, 2006 at the Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Pastor Ann Ziegert will officiate. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, August 17 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery, Galva. Memorials may be directed to the MS Foundation of Henry & Knox County.
She was born on April 26, 1920 in rural Galva, IL, the daughter of Arthur E. and Helga (Johnson) Nelson. She married Wayne E. Hagerty on March 6, 1943 in Galesburg, IL. He preceded her in death on July 25, 1971. She is survived by 4 sons, Roger Hagerty and his special friend, Sharon of Galesburg, IL, Ronald (Linda) Hagerty of Dahinda, IL, Richard (Karen) Hagerty and Randy (June) Hagerty both of Galva, a daughter, Rita Johnson of Galva, 6 grandchildren, Todd (Amy) Hagerty of Galva, Ryan Johnson of Des Plaines, IL, Rhonda (Todd) Bussell, of Galesburg, IL, Tammy Hagerty of Galva, Teri (Ryan) Stone of Galva and Katie Hagerty of Dahinda, 9 great grandchildren and 1 brother, Ivan D. Nelson of Galva. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Dorothy graduated from Galva High School in 1937. She was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church, it's Ruth Circle and the Kitchen Band. She was also a member of the Galva Garden Club and the Lynn Merry Makers. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting and her plants. She always had a pet cat or dog.
