Mr. Bill McCall Rhodes, 79, of Winston-Salem, NC, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006, at his home. Mr. Rhodes was born Dec. 12, 1926, in Stokes County, the son of the late Elbert Franklin Rhodes and the late Claudie Bell Vernon Rhodes. He was retired from Unifi Inc. in Madison, NC. Bill was an avid gardener and jack of all trades. He enjoyed NASCAR racing, his gardening, tinkering with old bicycles and listening to old hymns and bluegrass music. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Oak Grove Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Dallas, Noel, Thomas, Hassel, Denison and Delano Rhodes; and sisters Arzula Fulp, Lola Rhodes and Doris Wood. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Elzie Moorefield Rhodes, of the home; sons Don Rhodes and wife Mabel of Clemmons, NC, and Ricky Fulp and wife Terry of Belmont, NC; daughter Jo Ann Rhodes Johnson and husband Gray of Madison, NC; grandchildren Brandon Johnson and wife Christy and Eric Johnson, all of Madison, and Ricky Parnell of Belmont; three great-grandchildren, Austin, Abbi and Ashton Johnson, all of Madison; four sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends.
