Obituary
Mrs. Jane Bennink, daughter of Willem and Wilhelmina Van Roekel, was born in Ede [sic], the Netherlands, on April 14, 1875. She passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 1953 at the home of Mrs. Marie Swank in Pella, with whom she had resided the past year.

She came to the Pella community from the Netherlands at the age of 19 years. Before her marriage she confessed her faith in Christ and joined the First Reformed Church of Pella. On February 21, 1900 she was married to Doris Bennink. To them twelve children were born, three of which died in infancy.

In the fall of 1919 the family moved from Leighton, Iowa, to Armour, S. D., where they lived on a farm until their retirement in 1940. Her husband preceded her in death there in 1948.

She leaves to mourn her passing three daughters and six sons. They are: John, of Lynden, Washington; Winnie, Mrs. L. B. La Clair of Wilton, California; William of Pampa, Texas; Gerard of Ferndale, Washington; Betty, Mrs. Wayne Woltz, temporarily located with her husband in the Armed services at Ansback, Germany; Arthur of Pella, Iowa; Paul of Yankton, S. D.; Merl of Grand Island, Nebraska; and Dorothy, Mrs. Marion Keil of Ankeny, Iowa.

She leaves also one sister, Mrs. John Wanders of Tracy, Iowa and one brother, Aart Van Roekel lately of Chariton, Iowa, and numerous other relatives in the Pella community.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 28, 1953 at 2 p.m. from the Van Dyk Funeral Home with the Rev. A. Haverkamp officiating. Further services were held on Friday at the Reformed Church at Armour, South Dakota, with interment at that place.
