Mrs. Velma Cathryn Asbury, daughter of the late Mr. Ulysses Grant Holley & Mrs. Nancy Trowbridge Holley, was born October 15, 1905, in Metcalfe County and departed this life on Wednesday, February 28, 1996, at the Hart County Health Care Center in Hart County. She was 90 years, 4 months and 13 days of age. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Glasgow Seventh Day Adventist Church. She united in marriage to Mr. Bert Asbury on March 3, 1925, who preceded her in death on January 8, 1951. To this union were born 4 sons and 5 daughters: Judy Stevens of Green County, Casbel Asbury of Green County, Joyce Jolly of Louisville, Jeanie Russell of Hart County, Ruel Asbury of Illinois, Joe Asbury of Louisville, Eugenia Pace of Grayson County, and Lendon Asbury of Green County. She was preceded in death by Cosette Butler. She was also survived by: 26 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, great- great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends. The funeral services for Mrs. Velma Cathryn Asbury were conducted at 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 1, at the Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home with burial in the Asbury Cemetery. Pastor Ed Cousier officiated. Pallbearers were Randall Bryant, Vance Butler, Barry Russell, Steven Furlong, Robbie W. Russell and Timothy Russell.
