James F. "Jim" Pearce, age 97, of Elizabeth, Illinois, died Saturday, April 15, 2006 at the Elizabeth Nursing Home, Elizabeth, Illinois. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at the Elizabeth Funeral Home, Elizabeth, Illinois. Reverend David Poust of the First United Methodist Church, Elizabeth, Illinois will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover, Illinois with grandchildren serving as pallbearers. Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., April 18, 2006 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Elizabeth, Illinois. A memorial fund has been established in honor of Jim. Jim was born October 29, 1908, the son of James A. "Bert" and Virginia "Gen" (Raymond) Pearce in Hanover Township, rural Elizabeth, Illinois. Jim attended Burton Country School. On May 6, 1930, Jim married Mildred A. Allen in Galena, Illinois, Mildred passed away on August 20, 1981. Jim, along with his wife, raised livestock and farmed in the rural Elizabeth area. Later moving to Hanover they were both employed at the Hanover Woolen Mill. In 1943, they moved back to a farm east of Galena, Illinois and remained in the Galena area until 1973 when they moved back to Elizabeth. Jim could tell you many stories, especially about the Depression years. He was a dedicated husband and father, and did a lot of physical work.Jim is survived by his daughter, Virginia Bruner of Cuba City, Wisconsin; his son, Kyle R. Pearce Sr. (Sharon) of Rural Elizabeth; six grandchildren; Gary (Julie) Bruner of Davis, California, Bradley (Kathy) Bruner of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, and Kendal (Diane) Bruner of Cuba City, Wisconsin, Rob (Donna) Pearce and Richard (Jeni) Pearce, both of rural Elizabeth, and Lori (Steve) Beach of Belvidere, Illinois. Fifteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandson also survive. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, a brother Harry, son-in-law, Wayne Bruner and three infant grandchildren.
