Funeral services for James E. Preston, 80, a 40-year resident of Electra who died Tuesday in Electra Memor­ial Hospital following a lengthy illness, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at James B. Totten & Son Funeral Home with Rev. George Wilson, pastor of First United Pres­byterian Church, officiating. Interment will be in Electra Memorial Park.

Mr. Preston was born January 6th, 1897 in Young County, Texas the son of the late Irving and Lena Preston. He married Melvie Vassar in Canadian, Texas May 1, 1944. They resided at Rt. 2 Punkin Center.

Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Mrs. Bryan Whittlinger of Burkburnett, Mrs. Jimmy Wright of Electra, Mrs. Foy Johnson of Amarillo, Mrs. John Walls of Amarillo and Mrs. Earl Tice of Arlington; one brother, John T. Preston of Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; four sisters, Mrs. Alta Ratliff of Tollison, Ariz., Mrs. Ray Langley of Fort Worth, Mrs. J.M. McCune of Fort Worth, and Mrs. Lillie Fox of Fort Worth; 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild._
