Mrs. Thelma Jane Adams, age 94, better known as “Granny”, went peacefully to her Heavenly home on October, 19, 2015. She was surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Gentiva Hospice. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She resided in Portal, Ga. where she enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, the Wii, and watching the Braves. She also loved listening to gospel music. She loved everybody and had many friends and everybody loved “Granny”.

Thelma Adams was born on May 31, 1921 to Enoch and Dianah Boggs in Whitesburg, Kentucky. She married Herbert Adams on Nov. 6, 1937 and together they had 14 children.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents and three daughters Lettie Sexton, Grace McCullough and Sue McCullough.

She is survived by eleven children Dave Adams (Laura) Leesburg, Fla, Bobby Adams, Portal, Ga, Cecil Adams, Portal, Ga, Don Adams (Sandy) Leesburg, Fla, Billy Adams (Dixie) Quincy, Fla, Barbara Wheeler (Larry) Leesburg, Fla, Christine Dempsey Okahumpka, Fla, Judy Lindsey (Robert) Hahira, Ga, Eddie Adams, Portal, Ga, Nina Horton (Jesse) Ray City, Ga, and Mickey Bragg (Junior) Portal, Ga. She is also survived by 45 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and many great great- grandchildren

The family will receive visitors on Wednesday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.

Gravesides services and burial will be Thursday at 12:00pm at Portal City Cemetery with Rev. John David Durden officiating.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jimbo Adams, Billy Boggs, Eugene Boggs, Herbert Adams, Jimmy Adams and Charles Adams.

Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home & Crematory of Statesboro is in charge of the arrangements.
