Laurie Duane Fuller, 47, died unexpectedly Aug. 10, 2006, at UC Davis Hospital in Sacramento, Calif.

Duane was born Nov. 6, 1958, to the late Francis "Mick" and Lois "Meme" Fuller. He was raised in Anaconda and graduated from Anaconda High School in 1978. He participated in wrestling, cross-country and track. He was a four-year letterman in cross-country. He was also among the top 25 finishers for the state of Montana his senior year.

He attended the College of Great Falls and Montana State University and earned a bachelor of science degree in occupational health and safety engineering from Columbia Southern University.

In 1980, he moved to California where he lived the past 26 years.

He married Editha Gatdula on June 30, 2001, at the family cabin at Georgetown Lake. They were blessed with one daughter, Norma Loise.

Duane worked at United Technologies of San Jose, Calif. He started in the packaging and shipping department and worked his way to become a safety engineer for the company. He was the secretary of the San Jose chapter labor union for 10 years. At the time of his death, he was the safety specialist for Delta Environmental where he worked on projects throughout northern California.

Duane will be remembered by his coworkers for his unique sense of humor, hard work, loyalty and for setting a great example for his peers.

Duane enjoyed doing volunteer work. He was a proud daddy, devoted husband, loving son and brother.

Duane especially loved the San Francisco 49ers, Gov. Schwarzenegger and the Republican Party.

Much to his brothers' surprise, he was a great handy-man and gardener, but they will remember him most for his impatience and being a good sport while being kidded. He enjoyed collecting currency from all over the world and traveling back home to Montana, where he will be laid to rest near his father.

Duane is survived by his wife, Editha, and daughter, Norma, at the family home in Sacramento; mother, Lois; brothers and spouses, Michael and Renee Fuller, Kevin and Janet Fuller of Anaconda, Ken and Jackie Fuller of Kalispell and his family in the Philippines. Laurie especially loved his numerous nieces and nephews, Jennifer and Kimberly of Great Falls, Joey and Teah of Anaconda and Colin, Connor and Kennah of Kalispell.

He was preceded in death by his father, Mick; and grandparents, John and Mildred Dillon and Lyle and Margaret Fuller.

Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Holy Family Church, Anaconda. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Longfellow Finnegan Funeral Home is in charge.
