FORT WORTH - Mary Alice Bankhead, a registered nurse and former day care center operator, died Friday at a Fort Worth hospital. She was 79.

Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Harveson & Cole Funeral Home.

Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick Cathedral. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

The family suggests that memorials be made to the Mary Bankhead Memorial Fund in care of Alta Mesa National Bank.

Mrs. Bankhead was born in Frankfurt, Ind., and had lived in Fort Worth for 39 years. She was a nurse in the Navy during World War II and had worked at St. Joseph Hospital for 10 years.

She later operated a private day care center in her home until 1980. She was a member of St. Patrick Cathedral.

Survivors: Two daughters, Fran Davis and Anna Bankhead, both of Fort Worth; son, Jesse Kohler of Fort Worth; two brothers, Delbert Roush of Indiana and Bob Roush of New Mexico; four sisters, Florence Drake of Arkansas, Edith Bukovsky of Illinois, Illene Dorsett of Arizona and Grace White of Indiana; and two grandchildren.
