Danny Weldon Rice passed away after a brief illness in Houston, Texas on February 8, 2015. He was born in Alvin, Texas on June 20, 1948 and raised in Alto, Texas, before settling in Nacogdoches for many years. Danny graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Agricultural Economics from Texas A&M in 1970. After graduation he began working in the printing business for The Rein Company before founding Superior Business Farms in the early 1980's.
Danny was involved in many organizations such as the Association of Former Students and The 12th Man Foundation. He spent many years following the Texas A&M athletic programs. Danny enjoyed playing golf, baseball, fishing, sailing, and watching his own grandchildren participate in athletics.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn; father, George; brother, Johnny; sister, Judy; and wife, Patsy. He is survived by his sons, Andrew and wife, Jessica of Dallas, TX and Jeffrey and his wife, Claire of Shreveport, LA; grandchildren, Brayden, Rachel, Holden, and Easten Rice of Dallas, TX, and Cole and Jane Rice of Shreveport, LA; and brother, Keith Rice and wife, Ellen of Friendswood, TX.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 from 5 PM to 7 PM at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 10 AM in the Chapel at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home.
