Actor. He started his career by playing 'Seldon' in the "blaxploitation" classic film "Thomasina and Bushrod" (1974). Other film roles followed with "Friday Foster" (1975), "Car Wash"(1976), "Paint It Black" (1986), V the final battle TV series and "While You Were Sleeping" (1995). Some of his most remembered television roles include 'Preston Wade' in the daytime drama "Days of Our Lives" from 1982 to 1983, 'Inspector Marquette' in the 1980s police drama series "Cagney and Lacey," the chronically humorless publishing executive 'Mr. Paul Bracken' in the 1991 Fox situation comedy "Herman's Head", and his supporting role in the Lifetime movie "Sophie and the Moonhanger" (1995). He was a very popular addition to the "Wing Commander" franchise in 1994 as 'Captain William Eisen'. His last feature film role was that of a judge in the Jim Carrey comedy "Liar Liar" (1997). On October 18, 1996, Bernard was driving in Hollywood when he suffered a fatal heart attack at the age of 58.
