Maugansville -- LESTER HENDRICKS CONARD, 72, died Wednesday at the Washington County Hospital. Born in Jefferson County, WV, he was the son of Charles Elbert and Edith Hendricks Conard.

He was a graduate of Harpers Ferry High School. Prior to his retirement he was employed at Fairchild Industries for 45 years where he had served as a supervisor. He was a life member of St. James Lutheran Church in Shepherdstown where he had served as a member of the church council for 20 years, former Sunday school superintendent, former trustee of the church property and treasurer of the church school. He was also a member of the Friendship Bible Class of the First Baptist Church in Hagerstown.

He is survived by his wife, Mae Riggs Conard; four sisters, Ruth Marie Conard, Towson; Mrs. Kenneth Hiett, Hagerstown; and Mildred Iola and Mary Emma Conard, both of Shepherstown; three brothers, Ralph William, Wayland, Mass.; and Charles Elbert and John Robert Conard, both of Shepherdstown.

Services were held at the Rest Haven Funeral Chapel. Burial in St. Paul's Cemetery.
