Joseph Leonard “Joe L.” Cissell, 65, of New Haven, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. He was a member of St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in New Haven. He was born Oct. 13, 1950 to the late John Henry and Margaret Gertrude Boone Cissell. He was a retired supervisor for Jeff Boat Inc. in Jeffersonville and was an avid fisherman and NRA supporter. He loved watching westerns and horseback riding.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Dennis Cissell.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine “Kat” Newton Cissell of New Haven; one daughter, Amy (Chris) Cissell Mattingly of New Haven; several brothers and sisters-in-law; two grandsons, Jordan Mattingly and Cameron Mattingly; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 19, 2015, at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in New Haven with the Rev. Chris Lubecke officiating. Burial is in St. Thomas Cemetery in Bardstown.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015, and 8:30-11 a.m. Monday at the William R. Rust Funeral Home, 167 North Main St., New Haven. A prayer service is 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
The William R. Rust Funeral Home in New Haven is in charge of arrangements.
