Charles Tidey, 69, Dies at Pokagon Township Home.
Charles Tidey, 69, R1, Dowagiac, lifelong resident of this community, died early Thursday afternoon at his home in Pokagon township. He had been in ill health for several years but had worked around his farm as usual Thursday. He was stricken while sitting in his car and died 30 minutes later.
He was born at Eau Claire on March 26, 1881, the son of Stephen and Elizabeth King Tidey and came to Dowagiac to live when 19 years old. He was a gas maintenance man for the Michigan Gas & Electric company in this city for many years and was widely known throughout the community. He retired a few years ago. His marriage to Pearl Hemminger of this city took place in Angola, Ind., in 1939.
Besides his wife, he is survived by four children, Patricia, Charles, Mary and Joan all at home, and a foster daughter, Mrs. Ruby Caldwell of South Bend; and a brother, Fred Tidey of Eau Claire.
Funeral services will be held 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the Spivey funeral home with Frank Flagg of this city officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery.
