Arthur Richard 'Brother' Glover -- Bowman
Funeral service for Arthur Richard "Brother" Glover, 59, of 993 Reevesville, will be hedl 3 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 2004, at Antioch Baptist Church, Bowman, with the Rev. Willie Bates Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Robert Lee Felk, James Williams, Dennis Shuler, Rondell Jones, Kenny Fogle, Clarence Mays and Wilbur Frederick. Honorary pallbearers will be former Orangeburg District 2 Trustees. The casket will be placed in the church at 2 p.m.
Mr. Glover died Tuesday.
He was born Feb. 17, 1945, in Bowman, a son of Richard Glover and the late Rosa Lee Felder Glover.
At an early age, he affiliated himself with Antioch Baptist Church where he served faithfully and loyally until his passing. He served as past Trustee Board Chairman. He was educated at Bethune Memorial High School and Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College. He was employed by OCAB-Orangeburg Calhoun Allendale Bamberg Community Action Agency for 26 years. He was also employed at North Carolina Mutual Insurance Company.
Mr. Glover was a member of the Concern Citizens, Bowman Branch NAACP, Bowman Lodge No. 4 and Board Member of the former Orangeburg District 2 for 23 years. He was also the first elected black official in Bowman.
He leaves to cherish fond memories, a loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Deloris Dickson Glover; three loving daughters, Ms. Penelope V. Glover, of Charlotte, N.C., Ms. Shana V. Glover, of Charlotte and Ms. Kimberly R. Glover, of the home; his father, Mr. Richard Glover, of Bowman; eight sisters, Mrs. Frankie Jones, of South Bronx, N.Y., Mrs. Catherine Rush, Irvington, N.J., Mrs. Barbara Garvin, Mrs. Anna Lois Felder, Mrs. Betty Sweeper, Mrs. Dorothy Neals, Ms. Barbara Glover, Mrs. Rosella Felder, all of Bowman; two brothers, Mr. Charles Glover, of Freehold, N.J. and Mr. Henry Lee Glover, of Bowman; mother-in-law, Mrs. Victoria M. Dickson, of Orangeburg; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Earnestine D. Larkin, of Sumter; four brothers-in-law, Mr. Henry Rush Jr., of Bronx, N.Y., Mr. James Sweeper, of North Charleston, Mr. Raymond Dickson, of Orangeburg and Mr. William Dickson Jr., of Lynn, Mass.; three aunts, Mrs. Dorothy Canty, of Bowman, Mrs. Mary Lee Cobbs, of St. George and Mrs. Mammie Glover, of Brooklyn, N.Y. and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Glover's Funeral Home.
