CANFIELD - Private family services were held Friday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel for Richard R. Marlowe Jr., 83, who died Tuesday morning at his home.

Richard was born Oct. 12, 1928, in St. Louis, the son of Richard R. and Mabel O’Linda-Lieb Marlowe.

He began his over 40 year career at Naegele Outdoor Advertising, his hard work led him to become its National President. After its sale to Morris Communications, Mr. Marlowe continued to work for a number of years until his retirement. He had been a member of the Mt. Olivet United Church of Christ in North Lima, the Youngstown Rotary, Tippecanoe Country Club, the Greensboro, North Carolina Jaycees, the Youngstown Club and had served as president of the National Outdoor Advertisers Association.

His wife, the former Patricia Cook, whom he married July 17, 1948, died Feb. 1, 2000.

He is survived by a daughter, Patti Ann (Don) Herron of Hendersonville, Tenn.; two sons, Richard R. (Muffin) Marlowe of Canfield and Thomas R. (Kathy) Marlowe of Berlin Center; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Boller and Virginia Ross.

The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to either Hospice of the Valley or the American Cancer Society in Mr. Marlowe’s memory.
