BROKEN BOW — Orville H. Wiemers, 81, of Kearney died Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, at Jennie M. Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Kearney Cemetery. Visitation with family will follow from 5-7 p.m. at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney.

Orville was born on Nov. 11, 1933, in Alma to George and Leora (Schleufer) Wiemers. He grew up in Elm Creek and later moved to Kearney. He graduated from Kearney High School with the class of 1951. He married Harriet M. MaComber on Dec. 23, 1953, in Kearney.

Orville worked for different farmers in the area and then for Coca-Cola for a number of years. He then began his career at West Co. Pharmaceuticals in 1964 where he worked as a mold line specialist until he retired in 1996. From there, he baby-sat his grandson, Michael, in Elm Creek for many years.

He loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and music performances. Orville also loved spending time with his grandchildren, Nicole, Seth and Michael, more than anything else. He loved his family deeply.

Orville was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1955. He enjoyed association with his fellow Witnesses. He traveled throughout Nebraska giving Bible-based talks. His firm hope was in the resurrection and being reunited with loved ones (John 5:28, 29) so he had no fear of death. (Hebrews 2:15) He loved the earth and looked forward to living on it with his loved ones. (Psalm 37:10, 11)

He had a passion for older vehicles and enjoyed spending his spare time looking at them and fixing them up. He also loved riding his bicycle several miles a day, every day, throughout Kearney. He enjoyed listening to country-western music and especially listening to his grandson play piano. Orville will be missed more than he would ever know by his family and friends.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Harriet Wiemers of Kearney; daughter, Canda Dantzer of Farmington, Minn.; son, Chris Wiemers and his wife, Judy, of Elm Creek; daughter, Cara Wieduwilt and her husband, John, of Elm Creek; grandchildren, Nicole Wiemers, Michael Wieduwilt and Seth Wieduwilt; sister, Delores Hild of Kearney; and brother, Wayne Wiemers and his wife, Sandy, of Kearney.

Orville was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Les Wiemers.
