Judith Ann Meehan, 81, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 29, surrounded by her loving family.

Judy was born in Kimballton, Iowa, the daughter of Emanuel Rasmussen and Dagny Muller. Judy graduated from Kimballton High School, attended Iowa State University and lived in Des Moines since 1962. She was active in the Plymouth Congregational Church and its choir, the Union Congregational Church in Hackensack, MN and the Danish Brotherhood and Sisterhood. She was extremely proud of her Danish heritage.

Judy will be greatly missed by her family, and is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Meridith and Lee Nelson of West Des Moines, son and daughter-in-law Kirk and Julie Hansen of Vail, CO, daughter and son-in-law Rebecca and Ray Greco of Minneapolis, MN and daughter and son-in-law Jane David-Foley and Bruce Foley of Des Moines. Judy is blessed with ten grandchildren and their spouses; Tony and Char Nelson, Mike and Dana Nelson, Nick Nelson, Pete and Ashley Nelson, Eric Hansen, John Hansen, Ann Greco, David Greco, Austin David and Will Foley. In addition, she has five great-grandchildren; Taylor, Zachary and Caden Nelson and Kate and Will Nelson. She has three brothers; Kent Rasmussen of Grinnell, Karl Rasmussen of Sunnyside, WA and Ivan Rasmussen of Santa Barbara, CA. Judy is preceded in death by her first husband, Leon K. Hansen, her husband, William R. Meehan and their son Peter Meehan.

Judy and Bill were passionate about spending summers at their home on Pleasant Lake near Hackensack, MN. For over 40 summers, in addition to blessing the lives of her family and friends, she touched countless individuals with her "come one, come all" philosophy.

A memorial service will be held in her honor at Plymouth Congregational Church at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 12. Memorials may be made to the Iowa State University Foundation or the Plymouth Congregational Church.
