Joseph A. Soukup, 70, 1248 Grand Ave., Schofield, died at a Wausau hospital at 10:20 p.m. Friday. Services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Janssen Funeral Home, Schofield. The Rev. Vernon G. Dolde of Peace United Church of Christ, Wausau, will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Soukup was born April 16, 1905, in Wausau, son of Mathais Soukup, 609 N. Fifth Ave., Wausau, and the late Ida Soukup. On June 9, 1962, in Pine City, Minn., he was married to Savanna Belter, who survives. He was a cab driver in Wausau for 12 years. Prior to that he was employed as a machinist in the area. Survivors besides his wife and father include five sons, Ronald, Oshkosh, Jerry, Nekoosa, Russell, Town of Rib Mountain, Wayne, 512 Moreland Ave., Schofield, and Paul, 1420 Fairmont St., Wausau; a daughter, Mrs. Shirley Brooks, Mosinee Route 1; two brothers, Mark Cedarburg, and Roderick, Ramona, Calif.; three step -sons, Raymond Belter S. 14th Ave., Wausau, David Belter, Merrill Route 5 and James Belter at home; a step -daughter Gayle Belter, at home; a sister, Mrs. Fern Fuller, 115 Grand Ave., Wausau; three step - brothers Lenhard Oelke, 908 S. 20th Ave., Wausau, Wilbur Oelke, Augusta Ga. and Raymond Oelke, Springfield Ohio; three step -sisters, Mrs. Reinhold Matzke, 1851 Grand Ave. Schofield, Mrs. Olive Fondow, Oshkosh, and Mrs. Dorothy Weiland, Holman; 15 grandchildren and four step -grandchildren.
