She graduated from New Madrid High School in Missouri. She and her husband had owned and operated groceries at Arcadia and Cicero for many years. She later worked for 15 years as a receptionist at Conner Prairie. Judith was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Cicero, IN. She also belonged to Phi Beta Psi Sorority and the Idealettes Extension Homemakers Club.
She and Richard P. Hampton were married July 10, 1943. He preceded her in death September 1, 1996. Also preceding her in death in addition to her parents and husband is a daughter: Christina Hampton, and three sisters: Mary Anne Black, Dorothy Teal, and Margaret Tappan.
Surviving her is a daughter: Teresa L. Carter of Cicero, IN, four sons: Rick Hampton of Carmel, IN, Dan Hampton of Nashville, TN, Dale Hampton of Noblesville, IN, and Lee Hampton of Fishers, IN, a sister: Virginia Schlieker of Denver, CO, 13 Grandchildren and 3 Great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 1:30 P.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Kettron officiating. Burial will follow at the Arcadia Cemetery.
