Mrs. Maude E. Thomas, wife of D. Oscar Thomas, West Chester Gardens, passed away in her 71st year late yesterday afternoon, at the Chester County Hospital, where she was admitted as a patient the preceding day. She had been ill for a long time.

The daughter of the lat William and Josephine Gilmore, she was born in Chester County and lived her life here. Prior to her illness, she was an active member of the Methodist Church. Known as "Aunt Maude" to many, she had a wide circle of friends. During her shut-in days she spent her time doing attractive embroidery.

Surviving are her husband D. Oscar, and the following children: W. Earl Thomas, of this place; P. Leroy, of Chatwood; Margaret, wife of George Bennett, Malvern, and Sara, wife of Charles McCullough, Germantown. There are 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral without further notice from the Hick's Funeral Home, 229 S. High St., West Chester, on Thursday, Nov. 2, at 2 p.m. Interment in Fagg's Manor Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday evening.
