Charles Nathaniel "Joby" McCrary 68 of Del Mar Rd. Lincolnton, died Friday March 23, 2012 at his residence after a lengthy illness.

Born April 17, 1943, he was the son of the late Roy Lee McCrary and Maude Etta Travis.

Charles was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran. After his service with the military, Joby worked as a truck driver for most of his life.

In addition to his wife, Sandra Elaine Ferringer of the home; a daughter Laura "Lori" McCrary Sigmon of Granite Falls; two sons Jeffery Duane & wife, Jean McCrary of Sherrills Ford and Dana E. McCrary of Sherrills Ford; three sisters, Ruby Eller, Peggy Travis and Kathleen Bolick all of Hickory; two brothers, Tony Travis and Olin Travis both of Hickory; five grand-children, Shantee Lee Ward, Amber Nicole Deloach, Alysha McCrary, Patrick McCrary, and Dessiray McCrary; and two great grand-children, Laidon and Lauren survive him.

Two sisters, Betty Lafone and Ruth Cloninger; and a brother, Roy Junior McCrary preceded him in death.

The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel in Newton. The Rev. Darren Rowe from Terrell Baptist Church will be officiate.

The family will receive friends 6-8:00 P.M. Monday, March 26, 2012, at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
