Lonnie L. Thompson, Sr., 86, of Middleburg, FL passed away Thursday, October 15, 2015 at his residence. Mr. Thompson was a native of Lakeland, FL and moved to Middleburg in 1972 from Jacksonville. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean War. He retired from Dolphin Backflow and worked as a plumber for over 30 years. Over the years, he enjoyed playing the guitar, fishing and working in the garden.
Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife of 62 years, Clara Thompson, children, Lonnie (Deborah) Thompson, Ronald Thompson, Pam (Frank) McGurer, Tina (Jon) Cook, and Sylvia (Fred) Westberry, seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, one great great grandson and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 21, 2015 in the Chapel of Russell Haven of Rest. Mr. Thompson will be laid to rest in Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 1-2:00 PM prior to services. Arrangements are under the care of Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery, Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 2335 Sandridge Road, Green Cove Springs, FL 32043.
