Kathy Jo Woods, 56, of Ft. Madison, passed away at 5:26 P.M. Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at the Great River Hospice House in Burlington, Iowa.
Kathy was born April 28, 1959, in LaHarpe, Illinois the daughter of Robert and Betty J. (Deere) Vass. She attended Nauvoo-Colusa High School graduating 1977. Kathy worked 14 years at the Cabaret as assistant manager and bartender. She enjoyed working in her flower garden, spending time with her family and neighbors, her dog Booger, and nightly bonfires with Gary and family.
Kathy is survived by her fiancé, Gary Watznauer of Ft. Madison; her father, Robert Vass of Adrian; five siblings, Roger (Pauline) Vass of Nauvoo, Randy Vass of Dallas City, Deborah (Mike) Boyer of Niota and Mike Vass of Dallas City; three step-children, Kasey Bush of Ft. Madison, Erin (Chad) Blackwell of Dallas City, and Jacob Woods of LaHarpe.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty; a brother, Rodney Vass; and a sister, Stephanie Hale.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage with burial to follow in Harris Cemetery near Dallas City. Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 8:00 P.M. Friday evening at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage with family meeting friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. A memorial fund has been established. Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
