Marjorie A. Bell, Galesburg Chapel 84, of Galesburg died at 1:48 am Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Heartland Health Care Center.
She was born February 14, 1931 in Galesburg, the daughter of Elmer and Lysle Salisbury Kann. She married Jimmie B. Bell on May 25, 1957 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on November 7, 2014.
Among those surviving are four of her children, Lisa (Curt) Anderson of Dahinda, Kurt (Kristi) Bell of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, Connie Rainey of Ankeny, Iowa and Cathy (Jeff) Markley of Galesburg; nine grandchildren, Jessie, Jennie, Carissa, Karson, Klayton, Kameron, Kasey, Conner and Karter; and her sister, Jean Kann Huevelman. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her oldest daughter, Stacey and both of her brothers, Dick and Bill Kann.
Marjorie graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1948 and attended Briar Cliff College in Sioux City, Iowa. She retired in 1990 from District 205 where she worked as a Special Education attendant for many years. She was a devoted Catholic and an active member of Corpus Christi Church and the Altar & Rosary Society.
As a young child, “Marj”, had a passion for reading that continued into her adult years. She was always looking for her next good book to read. She also loved crossword puzzles and football, but her favorite thing to do was to spend time with her family. She took pride in all of her children and grandchildren’s accomplishments.
Graveside services are scheduled for 12:30 pm, Saturday, October 24, 2015 at St. Joseph Cemetery. Cremation will be accorded. Rev. William Miller will officiate. Memorials may be made to Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com
