Born July 4, 1935, in Hoxie, Ark., he was the son of the late John Joseph and Rachel Ann Benton Yates.
Survivors include one son, Daniel Roy Yates, of South Lyon, Mich.; three daughters, Brenda Ann Corbin, of Clarksville, Tenn., and Linda Jean Gefken and Beverly Kay Bourne, both of Springfield; three brothers, Joe Yates, of Cherokee Village, Ark., Billy Don Yates, of Revenden, Ark., and J.D. Yates, of Kennett; one sister, Margaret Salter, of Roanoke, Va.; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with John Westfall officiating.
Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett.
