Bettye Jane (King) Knight
October 1, 2015 in North Pole, Alaska, Bettye Jane (King) Knight, 55, passed away quietly in her sleep. She will be missed by loved ones, family and friends.
Bettye, previously of Long Beach MS, married John Knight on November 17, 1990. In 1992 they moved to North Pole, Alaska via the United States Air Force. Bettye was employed by AAFES for many years and she had a short stint as a security guard at the local oil refinery. She found her dream job in 2000, as Commercial Sales Manager for Shucks Auto Parts where she worked until she suffered a stroke and medically retired in 2004 where she began working on her domestic engineering degree.
Bettye's great passion was her animals - they were children to her and her husband. Bettye was well-known around town and often seen in stores with her service dog and constant companion. Her favorite past time was collecting Wolf items (shirts, pictures, paintings and whatnots). She loved to read and their book-filled basement is a testament of that. Bettye also loved to play bingo with near and dear friends.
Bettye is preceded in death by her father Garland D. King
Bettye is survived by her husband of 25 years, John Knight, North Pole, AK; mother, Jane Anna King, Gulfport MS; sisters, Carol Gates, Vancleave MS; Margie Jean (Butch) Rodgers; Mae (Richard) Layton; Donna (Keith) Baker, all of Gulfport MS; brother, Alton (Sheila) Mosley, Prentiss MS; Father and Mother in-law, Johnnie and Edna Knight; sister-in-law, Laurie (Roger) Shurtliff, all of Clearfield UT; 14 Nieces and 7 Nephews.
Celebration of Life events will be held at Moose Creek Baptist Church on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 6:30 pm, and in Gulfport, Mississippi for family members at a later date.
Since Bettye was cremated we add her information to her mother headstone.
