Mrs. Hendrickson Rites Held
Funeral services were held form St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Bay Shore, Tuesday for Mrs. Annie E. Hendrickson, 92, of Bay Shore, who died Feb. 5 in a nursing home. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery, Bay Shore.
Mrs. Hendrickson was born in Bay Shore in 1879 and made it her lifelong residence. In 1900 she married Fred C. Hendrickson, also of Bay Shore, who died in 1930. She had three children, Glenn, and twin daughters, Gladys and Venus.
Venus Cummings, the only survivor, formerly of Bay Shore, now resides in Salem, N.Y. There are 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hendrickson for years was very active in many clubs and activities. She had been a member of St. Peters Episcopal Church of Bay Shore since 1894 and was very active in the church work. She organized the first auxiliary group for the Southside Hospital when it was located in Babylon, N.Y. For several years she made puppets for the children patients of Southside Hospital and was known to many as the "Puppet Lady".
Before she bcame too ill to continue her work, Mrs. Hendricson made over 13,000 puppets. She was also involved in Red Cross work in World War I and II. She was a member for many years of the Bay Shore Library Club.
