Mr. Ivan “Sonny” Simpson, 80, of Vass and formerly of Archdale, died Sunday, October 11, 2015 at his residence.
Born December 23, 1934, in Moore County, Sonny was the son of the late Eddie Martin and Sadie Marks Simpson. He attended Mt. Pleasant Christian Church in Vass. He owned and operated Simpson Auto Sales in Vass. In his free time, Sonny enjoyed fishing, hunting and working on cars. He was preceded in death by a grandson, David Spivey.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Faye Simmons Simpson, of the home; four daughters, Vickie Spivey (Jim), of Archdale, Doris Thomas, of Vass, Shelby Warren (James), of Columbia, SC, and Sherry Bradshaw (Mike), of Sophia; 10 grandchildren, Anita Boren (Dan), Stephen Rabon, Ricky Rabon, Dana Whitten (Clint), Casey Puckett (Phillip), Joe Bradshaw (Elizabeth), Michael Bradshaw (Whitney), Nicole Popovich (Johnny), Travis Warren, and Brandon Warren; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Edith Floyd and Frances Long; and two brothers, Wayne Simpson and Earl Simpson.
Funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale, officiated by Rev. Franklin Fox and Rev. Phillip Puckett. Entombment will follow in the Floral Garden Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6 until 8 at Mt. Pleasant Christian Church in Vass, and also on Wednesday night from 6 until 8 at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.
