Mr. Warren F. Byrd, a native of Crisfield, died in the Bethesda Naval Hospital, Bethesda, Md., Friday of last week of a heart attack. He was 68 years of age and had been living in Washington for some years.
He was the son of the late William and Sallie Sterling Byrd of the Byrdtown section, and was a retired Naval officer.
Mr. Byrd was well known here and had a large circle of friends in the community. He was a genial man, good company, and quick to do a favor. He often visited Crisfield in late years and his visits were looked forward to and enjoyed by his many friends.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in Asbury Methodist Church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Walter Beckwith. Burial was in the Asbury Cemetery.
Surviving him are two sons, Robert Byrd of Washington, D. C., and William Byrd of Phoenix, Arizona; two sisters, Mrs. Lloyd Boone of Crisfield and Mrs. Robert Carr of Hyattsville, Md.; two brothers, Dr. H. C. Byrd, chairman of the Commission of Tidewater Fisheries of College Park, Md., and Miles Byrd of Silver Spring, Md., and one grandchild.
