Life Legacy

"Coach Jeff", Jeffery David Sharp, died in hospice care in the early hours of October 14th after a long and extended illness surrounded by his loving family. Jeff was 60 years old.

Jeff Sharp was born on July 28th, 1955 in Catawba, North Carolina to his parents, Ed and Bonnie Sharp. Jeff was a graduate of Drexel High School, Eagle Scout and proudly served aboard the USS Cincinnati, where he awarded the distinguished metal of sailor of the Quarter 5 times in a row. Jeff heavily involved in local politics in Snellville, GA. He was instrumental in the success of many local politicians and supporting productive growth of the city of Snellville. Jeff spent his career working for Atomic Energy of Canada.

Jeff however, was more than his occupation and civic contributions, Jeff was a friend to many and most importantly, he was a father. He was a coach on more baseball and softball teams than can be counted. He taught his children to ride bikes, shared his love of the outdoors and camping that resonated with his children, he loved the Atlanta Braves and most of all he loved his family fiercely. Jeff Sharp may no longer be with us but the love this man gave will never die, it lives in the children he raised and the people privileged enough to meet him.

Jeff is survived by his children Anna Sharp, of Atlanta, GA., Julia Sharp of Silverthorne CO, Jeremy Sharp of Dahlonega, GA, and Niece, Bethanie Brown Wooten of Columbia, SC. He is preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie Parsons Sharp; his father, Edward Wexley Sharp; and his sister, Janis Sharp.

Jeff will be remembered and celebrated Thursday evening, October 15th 2015 at a viewing and memorial service held at the Dahlonega Funeral Home from 6:00 to 9:00 PM.
A funeral mass will be held at Saint Luke's Catholic Church in Dahlonega, GA Friday October 16th 2015 at 1:00 PM.

A Graveside service will be held at Gwyn Cemetery in Canton, NC on Saturday, October 17th at 1:00 PM. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jeff's life.
