Death, with it's relentless grasp has removed from us one whose young life had reached that period of development when a fond widowed mother turned her hopeful eyes to him as a present source of support and comfort, and as a staff upon which to lean in her declining years. James Washington Vickery, the subject of this notice, was born March 22,1882 and died January 15, 1900, being 17 years, 9 months and 23 days of age. "Watt," as we familiarly called him, was quiet and unassuming in his deportment, a dutiful son and an obliging and affectionate brother. His father, having preceded him to the grave about 6 years ago, he was deprived of these advantages to some extent he otherwise might have enjoyed. He made a profession of religion several years ago and connected with the church at Cedar Creek. He seemed devoted to the Sabbath School of which he was a member. Among his associates he was kind. We trust that his reward is in heaven.
