Died aged 40, husband Of Christina Rendall (nee Stout), of Lizburn, Broughton, Westray, Orkney.The Ruby was a 234 GRT compound-engined cargo ship completed in 1882 by J. Fullerton & Co. for W. Cooper & Sons. She sank on 28 March 1917 after striking a mine laid by German submarine UC-44 approximately 2.5 nautical miles from Auskerry, Orkney Islands. She was en route from Leith to Kirkwall with a general cargo.
