Delmar was the son of Thomas Aurand & Philinda Sprague.

He married Alice Baysinger on 18 Nov 1920.

His obituary in the Rockford Register-Republic includes: "Surviving are his widow; five daughters, Mrs. Raymond Dascher of Warren, Mrs. Vernon Diehl, of Elizabeth, and Mrs. Leroy Leibert and Delma Jeana and Carol Aurand, all of Stockton; a son, Paul, Kankakee; his mother, Mrs. Philinda Aurand; 17 grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. John Blish, DeKalb, Mrs. William Boelk, Freeport, Lillian Aurand, Stockton, and Mrs. Leo Wetzel, Warren; ans six brothers, including Harry, DeKalb, Arthur, Loves Park, and Leland, Stockton."

Delmar served during World War I as a Corporal in Co. E., Battery F, 17th Field Artillery.
