Judith V. Hardin, age 77, passed away peacefully Monday, October 12, 2015. She was born September 12, 1938 in Oak Hill, Ohio to the late Charles Franklin and Garnet Avanell (Denny) Doty. Judy truly enjoyed her childhood. She played the trumpet in the high school band, was the homecoming queen and graduated as the 1956 Oak Hill High School Salutatorian. She grew up with the love of her life, Marlin Hardin, and accepted his hand in marriage on December 1, 1956. They had a wonderful life together. He preceded her in death on May 4, 2014. Judy was a successful real estate agent for many years and was an active member of the North Linden Civic Association. She was a proud American and was drawn to activities surrounding the political process, including fulfilling duties as an "election inspector". Judy was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star, active in Girl Scouts of America and American Mothers Inc. She proudly accepted the Ohio Mother of the Year Award in 1997. Judy used to love bowling at Northern Lights and was always up for a camping trip with her family. She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Hillary. Judy is survived by her children, Kathy (Bob) Whitmore, Kimberly (Eddie) Weiss, Karla (Dr. Craig) Held and Jeffrey Hardin; grandchildren, Ben (Lori), Melissa (Randy), Michelle (Rob), Steven (Emily), Jarrod (Holly), Lauren (Chuck), Maddey, Emily and Travis; great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Kristen, Josh, Jayden, Jackson, Megan, Sidney, Grayson, Reagan, Korinne, Gwen and Owen; sister, Phyllis Rector; many close friends and extended family. Family will receive friends Thursday, October 15, 2015 at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road from 5-8 PM. A funeral service will take place 10 AM, Friday, October 16, 2015 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 307 Huber Village Blvd. Westerville, Ohio; Graveside service 3 PM Friday at CM Cemetery in Jackson County.
