"Mrs. A. E. Gates died at her home at the corner of North Jefferson and Eastwood Aves., Friday evening July 7th, after an illness of several days of ptomaine poisoning or something similar. On July 4th, the family ate some candied tomatoes which made them all very sick. Mrs. Gates grew worse and died as a result but the others are well again. She is survived by a husband and three children, C. S., Elmer and Mrs. Wilson. Her remains were sent to Chillicothe, her former home, for burial by Undertaker Walker."
