Alex "Joe" Joseph Stelly, 90, of Beaumont, died Monday, October 12, 2015, in his home. He was born on September 17, 1925, in Vermilion Parish, Louisiana, to Elmire Bertrand Stelly and Ora Stelly.
Joe was a United States Army Veteran having served in World War II. He went on to become a local business owner, having his own barbershop for many years in South Park. Joe was a member of St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica, Beaumont.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Stelly; son, Alex Stelly, Jr., both of Beaumont; daughters, Nancy Stelly Gonzalez, also of Beaumont; and Janet Carol Stelly, of Austin; five grandchildren; and sister, Lilly Mae Duhon, of Arlington.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Anita Thomlinson, Ades Emery, Melba Oliva, Relis Stelly, Eli Stelly, and Leo Stelly.
A Rosary for Mr. Stelly will be recited at 6:00 p.m., followed by a time for remembrances, Thursday, October 15, 2015, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 16, 2015, at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica, 700 Jefferson Street, Beaumont, with his interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
