Phillip "Wayne" Reeves, 83 years old, a resident of Kimberly, Idaho, passed away after battling cancer, Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at his home surrounded by his family. Wayne was born in Stanford, Texas, on Feb. 1, 1920, the 10th of 12 children to William Osborn and Maude Irwin Reeves. He served in the Air Force for 3 years. While serving in the military, he met and married Hazel Bess Merritt in February 1943. They lived in west Texas until they settled in Idaho as one of the first Minidoka County homesteaders in April of 1954. They had eight children and were later divorced. Wayne married Marlene Braswell on June 21, 1969, in Elko, Nev. They have resided in the Kimberly area for 34 years. Between the two of them they had 14 children. Wayne had a long and successful career as a farm implement salesman in the Magic Valley area. During his career, he made many wonderful and lifetime friends as well as business acquaintances, including the farmers he met. He was well respected by all the companies that he worked for over the years; he retired from sales in 1985. Wayne was an avid hunter and fisherman. He instilled this passion in his sons and grandsons, and all have enjoyed his remarkable talent as a storyteller. His humor, good nature and living a life of caring and sharing were valued in his community as he was honored as the city of Kimberly's Good Neighbor of the Year. Wayne was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather; he will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends. Surviving Wayne are his wife, Marlene; four brothers; children Donna Gary Fessenden, Brenda Thompson, Brenda Adams Thueson Randy, Debbie Larry Wickham, Karis Reeves, Tony Debra Braswell, Tom Mary Reeves, Dixie Joe Watts, Tammie Walls, Sharon Robert Izaguirre, Mark Shelly Reeves and Mike Shawni Nix; 33 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. His parents, four brothers, three sisters, one son, one daughter and three grandsons preceded him in death. Visitation for Wayne will be held from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at the Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home, 2551 Kimberly Road. The service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kimberly 2nd Ward, 2222 Birch S., Kimberly, Idaho, with interment following at the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Twin Falls, Idaho. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
