Cathy George, 73, died Tuesday at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 2pm Thursday at Decker Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater with Keith Clark officiating.

Honorary pallbearers are Andrew Higdon, Louis Light, Ken Nevins, Dalton Owens, Grant Sandusky, Gene Sorrells and Parks Thomas.

Cathy Jo Alexander George, born March 3, 1945, in McDade, Texas. She was the daughter of Cal and June Alexander of Maryneal. Cathy married Edgar Rex George on December 19, 1962 at the Maryneal Church of Christ. They stood up after services on Wednesday night and said their vows. Their ceremony was simple as they spent the rest of their lives. They celebrated life together for 48 years before his passing. They lived in Nolan County and was a member of the Maryneal Church of Christ for over 50 years. She loved her family and enjoyed cooking and making quilts for their family and friends.

She is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Regina & Joe Brad McVey of Maryneal, TX, Rexann & Gary Pence of Alabama, and Robin & Todd Pebsworth of Portales, NM; 7 grandchildren, Melissa & Kevin Gillespie, Marla & Kyle McDaniel, Justin & Ashley McVey, Blake Kalmer, Shadarah Pebsworth, and Natalie & Mason Heald; 7 great-grandchildren, Paige McVey, Kelton McVey, Bryler & Braxton McDaniel, Taygen McVey, Levi McVey and Parker Gillespie; a sister and her husband, Sandra and Louis Light of Maryneal; and a brother and his wife, Jim & Cindy Alexander of Springfield, OR.

She was preceded in death by her parents Cal (1984) and June (2002); husband Rex (2011); an aunt, Syble Hobbs (2011); and her granddaughter Katie Kalmer (2012).

Memorials can be sent to Decker Cemetery, Christian Homes of Abilene or the NM Christian Children’s Home.
