Mildred Lively Scott Rowe

Mildred Louise Scott Rowe, 93, of Duncan, OK passed away Friday, Oct. 9, 2015 in Duncan.
Mildred Louise Lively Scott Rowe, better known as "Meme" by her children and grandchildren, was born April 11, 1922, in Ryan Oklahoma to Arley Cylvester Lively and Lois Elsie West. She was the oldest of four girls. Meme was raised in a Christian home and prayed with her father to receive Jesus as a young child.
She graduated from Ryan High School on May 24, 1940, and went on to pursue a nursing career at the local hospital.
Meme met Oscar Thomas Scott III while working as a nurse and they were married on March 9, 1941. They had their first child, Tommie Louise in 1942 and their second child, Oscar Thomas Scott IV in 1944.
Meme lived to serve her Lord Jesus Christ and her family. She loved to attend church and always prayed for her family. Meme had many talents and sewed clothes for both her children when they were young and handmade many beautiful quilts later in life. She was also known for her fabulous cooking skills. Meme made all her food from scratch and gathered her children and grandchildren around her table for holidays and get-togethers. She made delicious homemade ice cream and often served it out of butter dishes as breakfast to the grand kids. They loved it. Everyone had a favorite dish they would ask Meme to make special just for each of them.
She baked homemade pies when she was first married and would sell them to the local restaurants. After all her children were grown, she turned her hobby into a business and started selling beautifully decorated wedding cakes and birthday cakes.
After a tragic accident confined her husband to a wheelchair for the rest of his life, she pursued a realtor license in Waco TX to help bring in income. She enjoyed selling houses in the community. Everything Meme did she saw as a ministry and she always found a way to pray over her clients and witness to them. Oscar III and Meme moved to Duncan retire. She took care of Oscar until he passed away in 1995.
After Oscar's passing Meme became even more involved in her church. She attended a grieving class where she met Don Rowe, who had also recently lost his wife. They became friends and then later married on December 21, 1996.
Don and Meme started traveling. Travel was something that Meme loved to do. They traveled to almost all 50 states and also went to Israel, which had been her long time dream. Her son, Oscar IV, had the joy of baptizing her in the Jordan River.
Meme's life was centered on loving Jesus and loving others. Her life for The Lord became the foundation for her family's faith and her prayers for each of them led to their salvation in Jesus. She truly left a legacy for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, a son-in-law, Keith McSorley; and by her husband of 54 years, Oscar Thomas Scott III.
Survivors include her husband of 19 years, Donald Rowe, of Duncan; three sisters: Nell, Emma Dean, and Vera Lee; one daughter, Tommie Louise McSorley of Amarillo TX; one son, Oscar T Scott IV and his wife Joyce, also of Amarillo; a stepdaughter, Charla Ratliff and her husband, Don, of Purcell, OK; a stepson, Robert, of San Jose, CA; four grandchildren: Scott McSorley and wife Jan of Austin, TX, Terri Pepper and husband Barry of Houston, TX, Mike McSorley and wife Jennifer of Houston and Kristi Allen and her husband Donnie of Amarillo; nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
