The son of Julius and Johanna (Doerhoefer) David, Basil resided on South 39th Street and was a retired elevator operator at the Weissinger-Gaulbert Apartments. He died of metastatic lung cancer at the Little Sisters of the Poor, and following funeral services at St Anthony Church, was interred at St Louis on 5 January 1961.
