Jessie Colleen Douglas passed away October 7 in Pineville, Louisiana. She was born April 17, 1928 in Drumright, OK to Ruth Ann Sink Douglas and Jess C. Douglas. During her teen years she worked at the Midwest Theater in Drumright, which made her a lifelong enthusiast of the early movies. After graduating from Drumright High School in 1947, she began her career with Bell Telephone as an operator. Colleen moved to Cushing, OK in the early 50s, transferring with Bell Telephone. She lived in Cushing until Nov 1975, when she made one more transfer to Bethany, OK. Her parents moved to Bethany, living with her, until her mother Ruth Ann passed in Oct 1982. Colleen took early retirement in 1983 to stay home with her father until his passing in Jan 1989. She became involved with travel groups and her church after the passing of her father and loved taking tours with these groups, traveling throughout the U.S. She became passionately involved with her church, Forest Hill Christian Church in Bethany, OK, volunteering often, including baking several dozen of her infamous chocolate chip cookies for their annual Journey to Bethlehem event, as well as cakes and pies for family and friends' birthdays and special occasions. Also very active in her yard most everyday, she continued to take care of it herself into her 80s.
